Condors #167 "Kingpin" and #190 "Redwood Queen" are a pair. Like any couple, they have their good days and their not so good days. The 14th of September, 2013 was not one of their best days.

The day started out innocently enough with the pair of them hanging out together in Big Sur.

Then 190 seemed to interact with 167 in a playful way for just over ten seconds.

After the playful interaction, it became calm for a short while and then not so calm. 167 grabbed 190 (you could hear some sort of grunt/gasp type noise) and seemed to fling her off the cliff, as can be seen in the sequence of photos below.

The whole initial grab through the birds taking flight below lasted two seconds.
